1967 State Farm/George Carlin NFL Brochure

I’ve come across some unique NFL promotional items in my time but this is one of the more interesting. It’s a brochure produced by State Farm in 1967 and targeted at their local insurance agents throughout the country. It first describes a new TV ad campaign starring a “bright young comic” by the name of George Carlin, called “Sportlight Spotlight,” and even includes plenty of still images to give you an idea what the ads looked like.

It then gently recommends that their local insurance agents use some of the printed material produced in conjunction with the campaign to decorate their local offices and sell more policies. Included in the list are 1967 NFL schedules, ad mats, radio scripts, counter cards, buttons, and pennants. Most of these feature the “Join me for Sunday Crunch” tagline.
