The Florida Panthers recently announced they would be retiring the #1 jersey of longtime goaltender Roberto Luongo during the 2019-20 season; the first player in franchise history to receive such an honor.
Luongo spent 11 of his 19 seasons in Florida and became a cornerstone for the franchise despite some very lean years. In fact, Luongo and the Panthers made the playoffs just once during those 11 seasons. Despite this, Luongo retired as the team’s all-time leader in games played, games started, wins, saves, and shutouts.
