The 2022-23 National League season has drawn to a close and it’s time to recognize the clubs that will be moving or returning to the Football League via promotion. This year the National League promotion winners were Wrexham on points and Notts County from winning the playoffs.
Wrexham continues to be one of the most popular success stories in football over the last several years, thanks in large part to Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney purchasing the club in 2020. Last season Wrexham made it to the National League playoff semifinals, and now they are back in the Football League for the first time since 2007-08.
Notts County’s exile from the EFL didn’t last nearly as long. The Magpies were last in League Two in 2018-19.
