The 2024-25 EFL League One season has drawn to a close and it’s time to recognize the clubs that will be leaving via promotion for the Championship. This year the EFL League One promotions are Birmingham City and Wrexham on points, and Charlton Athletic from winning the playoffs.
Birmingham City bounced right back to the Championship after just one season in League One. Prior to that relegation, the Blues had been in the 2nd flight for 13 straight campaigns.
Wrexham, meanwhile, continues their amazing climb through the pyramid. They earned their third promotion in as many seasons and are back in the second tier for the first time since the 1981-82 season. I wonder if they’ll get some publicity from all this success…
Charlton Athletic is back in the Championship for the first time since the COVID-impacted 2019-20 campaign. They will hope to avoid a repeat of that performance, which saw them bounced after just one season there.
