Here are a few great images from The Book of Baseball, published in 1911. First is the wonderfully illustrated cover, which vividly recalls the dead-ball era.

Up next is a team photograph of what I believe to be the 1910 Chicago Cubs, who went 104-50 that year and won the National League Pennant.

And here were their opponents, the 1910 Philadelphia Athletics as led by Connie Mack.

The A’s got three wins from pitcher Jack Coombs en route to a World Series victory in five games.
