The 2022-23 EFL League One season has drawn to a close and it’s time to recognize the clubs that will be leaving via promotion for the EFL League Championship. This year the League One promotions are Plymouth Argyle and Ipswich Town on points, and Sheffield Wednesday from winning the playoffs.
League One champions Plymouth Argyle haven’t played in the Championship since the 2009-10 season, while runner-up Ipswich Town is returning just four seasons after relegation.
Sheffield Wednesday’s exile from the EFL Championship is the shortest of all. They were last in the division in 2020-21 and have spent most of the last 20 seasons there.
Plymouth Argyle (2009-10)

Ipswich Town (2018-19)

Sheffield Wednesday (2020-21)

Note: As with most publications from the 2020-21 season, unofficial fan programs are all that are available as most matches were played with no fans due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
