American Football League

From SportsPaper Wiki

The American Football League (AFL) was a professional American football league that challenged the established National Football League (NFL) from 1960 to 1969. The two leagues, who became fierce rivals, agreed to a merger in 1966. The final AFL season took place in 1969, and starting in 1970 all its existing teams began play in the NFL's new American Football Conference.
