From June 1950 comes the debut issue of the Eagles Nest newsletter from the Philadelphia Eagles. The Eagles were coming off their 2nd consecutive NFL title, and the front page of the newsletter encourages fans to buy season tickets for a crack at 1950 Championship Game tickets. As it turned out, Philly had a lackluster 6-6 season and failed to qualify for the postseason.
Also prominent on this edition of Eagles Nest are Eagles QB Tommy Thompson and Otto Graham of the Cleveland Browns. The Browns joined the NFL in 1950 along with the 49ers and original Baltimore Colts. The Browns played won the Eagles’ conference — the American — and went on to beat the L.A. Rams in the 1950 NFL Championship.
