Today’s vintage sports image is a slide taken on what I believe to be the December 6, 1970 NFL game between the New York Jets and Oakland Raiders, played at Shea Stadium. First let’s take a look:
A few things tell me this is from the 1970 Jets vs. Raiders game. First, the Raiders are wearing their silver jersey numbers and that only happened in the 1970 season. Second, there are only two seasons when all three players seen here — Oakland’s Drew Buie and New York’s Jim Turner and George Sauer — were active on their respective teams: 1969 and 1970.
Given all this, I think this is the Week 12 game that Oakland won, 14-13. Turner was a woeful 2-of-5 on field goals that game. The difference that day was a Warren Wells 33-yard touchdown pass from Daryle Lamonica in the fourth quarter.

Good sruff.
actually the td was on the last play of the game on a tipped pass
Thanks!
