Despite the rather lengthy gap since I first posted about this project<\/a>, I’ve been quite busy with it. To wit, the first full group of 18 cards is more than half complete. Here are the latest additions for page 1 (I double up in my binder pages):<\/p>\n\n\n\n

1979 Topps Burger King Philadelphia Phillies #7 Ron Reed<\/a><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

In the 1970s and ’80s, Burger King got in on the baseball card game, distributing their own version of each year’s Topps design. The 1979 Phillies set contained 22 player\/manager cards and a checklist. The design was identical to the Topps flagship set with one exception: the card number.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ron Reed is a member of the Phillies Wall of Fame and it’s always cool to see a vintage warmup jacket.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2002 Fleer – Rookie Sensations #8 RS Johnny Estrada<\/a><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Johnny Estrada made his MLB debut for the Phillies in 2001 and played 89 games that season due to an injury to starting catcher Mike Lieberthal<\/a>. He was relegated to the bench in ’02 and traded to the Braves during the offseason. His most productive seasons came with Atlanta in 2004 — when he made the All-Star Game — and 2005, then with Arizona in 2006 and Milwaukee in 2007.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
