We have a few teams celebrating anniversaries this year. The Anaheim Ducks and Florida Panthers are both marking 25 years since the establishment of their franchises in 1993:<\/p>\n

The San Jose Sharks are marking 25 years in their current home, currently named the SAP Center. It opened as San Jose Arena in September 1993.<\/p>\n

The Washington Capitals are naturally commemorating their Stanley Cup championship with a cover featuring Alexander Ovechkin.<\/p>\n

As far as interesting designs, most of this year’s batch aren’t. They tend to fall into one of two designs – a logo-centric look or a photo of 2-3 of the team’s most prominent players. Two are worth highlighting, however. The Blackhawks turned in a design that reminds me of some of their ’70s ones, even down to the typeface.<\/p>\n
