The expansion Saints, under head coach <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/F\/FearTo00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Tom Fears<\/a>, had yet to win a game while <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/S\/SherAl20.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Allie Sherman<\/a>&#8216;s Giants had lost two of their first three games. And so the two teams met at Yankee Stadium during week 4 of the 1967 NFL season, on October 8.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.sportspaper.info\/nfl\/seasons\/1967\/10-08_no-nyg.html\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/www.sportspaper.info\/nfl\/seasons\/1967\/images\/nfl-game-program_1967-10-08_no-nyg.jpg\" alt=\"NEW YORK GIANTS VS. NEW ORLEANS SAINTS (OCTOBER 8, 1967)\" width=\"600\" height=\"778\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>As might be expected from a game between two struggling clubs, it was a close one. There were four lead changes before New York went ahead for good in the 4th quarter thanks to a TD pass from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/T\/TarkFr00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Fran Tarkenton<\/a> to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/C\/CresBo00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Bobby Crespino<\/a>.
