From 1953 through 1983 the Colts played in Baltimore&#8217;s Memorial Stadium, just about an hour&#8217;s drive from Washington&#8217;s RFK Stadium. Of course, it was hardly a rivalry on par with Raiders vs. Chiefs or Redskins vs. Cowboys, but it was something.<\/p>\n<p>For this week&#8217;s flashback I&#8217;m going to share some programs from the earlier years of Redskins vs. Colts, starting with the first regular-season meeting between the two teams in D.C.<\/p>\n<figure style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"http:\/\/sportspaper.info\/nfl\/seasons\/1954\/10-31_bal-was.html\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/sportspaper.info\/watermark.php?path=nfl\/seasons\/1954\/images\/nfl-game-program_1954-10-31_bal-was.jpg\" alt=\"WASHINGTON REDSKINS VS. BALTIMORE COLTS (OCTOBER 31, 1954)\" width=\"600\" height=\"845\" \/><\/a><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">October 31, 1954<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The Redskins earned their 1st victory of the 1954 season on Halloween at Griffith Stadium. Washington rolled out a balanced ground game, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/A\/AtkeDa00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Dale Atkeson<\/a> rushed for two scores. Colts QB\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/K\/KerkGa20.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Gary Kerkorian<\/a> passed for 262 yards and a TD in the losing effort.<strong> Final score:<\/strong> Washington 24, Baltimore 21.<\/p>\n<figure style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"http:\/\/sportspaper.info\/nfl\/seasons\/1961\/11-26_bal-was.html\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/sportspaper.info\/watermark.php?path=nfl\/seasons\/1961\/images\/nfl-game-program_1961-11-26_bal-was.jpg\" alt=\"WASHINGTON REDSKINS VS. BALTIMORE COLTS (NOVEMBER 26, 1961)\" width=\"600\" height=\"804\" \/><\/a><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">November 26, 1961<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Washington welcomed the Colts to brand-new D.C. Stadium amidst a dismal season for them. Weeb Ewbank&#8217;s Colts had no problem with the Redskins even though <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/U\/UnitJo00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Johnny Unitas<\/a> was picked off three times. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/M\/MoorLe00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Lenny Moore<\/a> rushed for 122 yards and a touchdown, while the entire Redskins offense managed just 53 <strong>total<\/strong> yards. <strong>Final score:<\/strong> Baltimore 27, Washington 6.<\/p>\n<figure style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"http:\/\/sportspaper.info\/nfl\/seasons\/1963\/12-01_bal-was.html\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/sportspaper.info\/watermark.php?path=nfl\/seasons\/1963\/images\/nfl-game-program_1963-12-01_bal-was.jpg\" alt=\"WASHINGTON REDSKINS VS.
