In addition to the list having a new home,\u00a0I\u2019ve upped my game by introducing some new technology to the process \u2014 namely, Tableau.\u00a0Other than making things look snazzy, however, the methodology behind how I\u2019m ranking all MLB teams remains pretty much intact. So for those who don\u2019t know the rules, here they are again:<\/p>\n<h2>The Criteria<\/h2>\n<p>The categories and point values are as follows:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>20 points for a World Series title. Pre-1903 titles are not counted.<\/li>\n<li>15 points for a league pennant.<\/li>\n<li>6 points for a playoff series win (e.g. Division Series or Wild Card Game).<\/li>\n<li>4 points for a division title.<\/li>\n<li>3 points for a regular season winning percentage of .556 or higher, -3 points for a percentage of .444 or lower.<\/li>\n<li>1 point for a winning season, -1 point for a losing season.<\/li>\n<li>Consecutive winning regular seasons are worth 2 points starting with the second, 3 points for the third, 4 points for the fourth, and so on. The counter is reset after any non-winning season. So if a team has three winning seasons in a row, they get a total of 5 points.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Feel free to share your thoughts on my rankings in the comments below. Pittsburgh Pirates (#9) \u2014 4.67 pts.<br \/>\n#12. Arizona Diamondbacks (#11) \u2014 4.15 pts.<br \/>\n#13. Chicago White Sox (#13) \u2014 3.70 pts.<br \/>\n#14. New York Mets (#14) \u2014 3.65 pts.<br \/>\n#15. Cleveland Indians (#17) \u2014 3.62 pts.<br \/>\n#16. Cincinnati Reds (#15) \u2014 3.51 pts.<br \/>\n#17. Kansas City Royals (#16) \u2014 3.28 pts.<br \/>\n#18. Baltimore Orioles (#18) \u2014 2.92 pts.<br \/>\n#19. Miami Marlins (#19) \u2014 2.30 pts.<br \/>\n#20. Philadelphia Phillies (#20) \u2014 2.001 pts.<\/p>\n<p>Replacing the Jays in the middle tier are the Pirates, who had a sub-.500 campaign. The pennant-winning Cleveland Indians moved up two spots, while most of the rest of this group stayed put.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h2>The Bottom 10<\/h2>\n<p>#21.\u00a0Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim (#21) \u2014 2.000 pts.<br \/>\n#22. Houston Astros (#22) \u2014 1.77 pts.<br \/>\n#23. Minnesota Twins (#24) \u2014 1.58 pts.<br \/>\n#24. Tampa Bay Rays (#23) \u2014 1.33 pts.<br \/>\n#25. Texas Rangers (#25) \u2014 1.05 pts.<br \/>\n#26. Washington Nationals (#26) \u2014 0.74 pts.<br \/>\n#27. Milwaukee Brewers (#27) \u00a0\u2014 0.44 pts.<br \/>\n#28. Colorado&#8217;s lifetime average dipped into negative territory, while the bottom-feeding Mariners edged up three-hundredths of a point thanks to finishing 10 games over .500.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h2>Miscellany<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>The Cubs have logged more seasons in positive territory over the past 10 years (five) than in any period in their history since a string of six such seasons from 1967 through 1972.<\/li>\n<li>The San Francisco Giants are the team of the decade so far, thanks largely to three World Series titles.<\/li>\n<li>Despite not qualifying for the postseason, the Yankees continue to rack up big points due to finishing above .500 for 24 straight seasons.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>After several years of ranking all active MLB franchises on my other site, I\u2019ve decided to move the process to SportsPaper.info.
